AMBLER PARK, Monterey County — October 2026. California American Water’s annual report for the Ambler Park Water System (CA2710006) says water delivered during 2025 met state and federal drinking-water requirements. The system-specific report supplies figures local customers can check, including arsenic, disinfection byproducts, hardness and lead sampling. It is a report about 2025 water quality, not a claim that water was tested on the date of this article.

Arsenic and disinfectant byproducts: what was measured?

The report lists a 2025 arsenic compliance average of 4.5 parts per billion (ppb), with reported results ranging from 4 to 7.5 ppb. California’s maximum contaminant level shown in the report is 10 ppb. For total trihalomethanes, a byproduct of water disinfection, the highest locational running annual average was 57 ppb, against an 80-ppb regulatory limit; the reported detected range was 15.9–76 ppb. Those are different statistics and must not be compared as though every sample represents the annual regulatory metric.

For haloacetic acids the highest running average was 13.1 ppb against a 60-ppb limit. The utility records compliance for those measures. Regulatory compliance does not mean water contains zero detectable chemicals, nor does it guarantee the condition of the plumbing inside any individual home.

What about lead and water hardness?

The system’s most recent lead-and-copper tap samples included in this annual report were collected in 2023, not 2025. Ten sampled homes were listed, with zero homes above the lead action level; the 90th-percentile lead result was 2 ppb against a 15-ppb action level. A homeowner concerned about their own pipes should not interpret a systemwide result as a direct test of their tap.

The report also lists total water hardness at 296 mg/L as calcium carbonate, or roughly 17 grains per gallon, and total dissolved solids at 672 mg/L on average. These measures can help explain mineral scale and taste differences but are distinct from the health-based contaminant limits.

Where to read the full data or ask a question

Residents should consult the complete system-specific report, including its definitions, testing years, ranges and tables, instead of relying on a single average. California American Water lists general customer service at 1-888-237-1333. For a suspected current supply problem or water advisory, check the utility’s live alerts rather than treating the annual report as a real-time update.
